FAQs

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming but have no worries! Here is a list of frequently asked questions couples often have for me. Consider this just a starting point because once we meet we can get into far more detail.

We want to know more about your pricing and packages. Can you tell us more?

Because every couple I photograph is unique I do custom quotes for each of our couples.  I start with a base collection that includes 7 hours of wedding day photography, a complimentary engagement session and the fully edited files and add on everything from additional hours to second shooters to albums and prints from there to create the PERFECT collection for you and your wedding.

We definitely want to book you! What’s the next step?

Awesome! Call me or email me! Of course I need to check your wedding date to ensure I’m available, so don’t wait to get in touch. Wedding dates start to fill up as far as 18 months in advance. To hold your date, you will need to select one of my Wedding Photography Collections, sign the agreement, and submit a fifty percent retainer fee that is applied towards your final balance.

How long after the wedding will we see our pictures?

My typical turnaround time on a wedding is about 5 to 7 weeks.  My goal is always to finish as quickly as possible while maintaining a high level of quality.

How many images do you deliver for an average wedding?

Each of my collections includes a different amount of fully edited, high resolution images. The amount of images depends on a few factors – the number of guests, hours of coverage, type of events and beyond. Our very minimum for a 10 hour coverage is 500 images but very often it is much, much higher. I do love what I do with a passion so I will be running around crystalizing as many great moments as possible.

Do you mind if our family members take photos at the ceremony and reception?

For the most part, I am totally fine with other people taking pictures at your ceremony and reception—as long as they’re not interfering with me doing the job you’ve paid me to do. Your ceremony is a sacred time that me as your professional photographer really try to honor, and it’s difficult for me to do that when I have to shoot around your photo-obsessed cousin shoving her iPhone into the aisle during your first kiss; similarly, I take issue with guests shooting over my shoulders during formal portraits.
I highly suggest an unplugged ceremony, which you can read more about HERE.

Will you travel out of town? What is your travel fee?

Absolutely I will travel!  I’m game to go wherever you want me.  For weddings in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area, Virginia and Maryland there is no additional travel fee when you book me (ILIA) as your photographer. If your wedding is outside of these areas, travel fees are calculated on a case by case basis depending on air-fare, accommodations, rental car, etc.

Do you shoot alone, or do you have a 2nd photographer?

All depends! I am the lead photographer that will be shooting on your wedding day. However,  if your wedding will host more then 100 guests then I do recommend adding a second photographer in your photography collection so that more of your wedding day can be documented from different angles and multitude of special moments can be captured.

What is your style?

My style is most often described as creative documentary or photojournalistic style. I photograph your special day as it naturally unfolds without direct interference. All the sweet moments of love, laughter, fun and joy  will be my aim to capture – crystallizing the essence of your beautiful day. At the same time, we will produce creative and beautiful portraits of the two of you during our key portrait session and the enchanting first look. You will find that the way I play with light, angles, backgrounds and overall composition will turn your magical day into timeless art that will be passed down your family for generations to come.
